License
Everything here is MIT-licensed. What that permits, and what it disclaims.
Last updated 9 August 2026
Every part of LibxaFrame is released under the MIT Licence: the framework, the starter kit, Libxa Desktop and this website.
What it permits
The MIT Licence is one of the most permissive there is. You may:
- Use it commercially. Build and sell products with it. No royalties, no revenue thresholds, no licence to buy.
- Modify it. Change anything, for any reason, without asking.
- Distribute it. Ship it, bundle it, redistribute it modified or unmodified.
- Keep your own code private. It is not copyleft. Building on LibxaFrame does not oblige you to open-source your application.
One condition: the copyright notice and this licence text must be included with any substantial copy of the software.
And one consequence worth reading rather than skimming: the software comes with no warranty of any kind, and the authors are not liable for anything that happens because you used it. That is the trade: you get it for free, and you carry the risk of running it.

Bundled software has its own licences
Libxa Desktop downloads and runs software written by other people. Each of those carries its own licence, which applies to your use of it: the MIT Licence above covers Libxa Desktop, not what it installs.
| Software | Licence |
|---|---|
| PHP | PHP License v3.01 |
| Node.js | MIT |
| Nginx | 2-clause BSD |
| MariaDB | GPL v2 |
| phpMyAdmin | GPL v2 |
| Composer | MIT |
| Electron | MIT |
MariaDB and phpMyAdmin are GPL v2. They are downloaded and executed as separate programs, not linked into Libxa Desktop, so the GPL's terms apply to those programs rather than reaching into the app. If you redistribute them, the GPL's obligations are yours to meet.
The framework's own Composer dependencies are listed with their licences in
composer.lock, and composer licenses will print them for any installation.
Attribution
Attribution is required in the sense the licence describes: keep the notice with the code. Beyond that it is welcome but not obligatory. If LibxaFrame is useful to you, a star on the repository is a kind way to say so.
The authoritative copy
The text above is reproduced for convenience. The copy that governs is the
LICENSE file in each repository.
